Thank You for Supporting the Bond — and What Comes Next

By Michael Newman

When my partner and I moved to Grosse Pointe around 2010, we did so because we wanted to build our lives in a community that valued family, education, and connection. The schools, the parks, and the people made it clear that this was a place where a young family could truly thrive. Over the years, that feeling has only grown stronger.

The recent passage of the bond is another example of what makes this community so special. It represents a shared belief in our future—an investment in welcoming new families, nurturing strong, smart, and ambitious kids, and supporting one another through every season of life.

Now, as we look ahead, we have a chance to build on that foundation. Extending the bond funds to improve Elworthy Park—with new bathrooms, upgraded facilities, and comfortable viewing areas—will transform it into a destination that reflects the excellence of the community around it. It is the natural next step in making Elworthy a place that matches the energy, care, and pride of Grosse Pointe.

I want to thank everyone who has been part of this effort so far. Your support and optimism have made this possible. As we move into this next phase, we invite you to stay involved—by helping with fundraising, dedicating funds, or simply staying connected and spreading the word.

Together, we can ensure that Elworthy Park continues to grow as a space that brings families and neighbors together, reflecting the very best of who we are as a community.

With gratitude,
Michael Newman
